Fried pickles

Just when I was beginning to lose hope, thinking there is nothing left to post about pickles, I found myself staring serendipity in the eye as I discovered the greatest pickle phenomenon of all time! Get ready for it...dun dunn dunnn...FRIED PICKLES! Ingenious? I think so.

I'm going to tell you the story whether you want to hear it or not. Okay, so I was watching "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" on the Food Network, and they were traveling to a place called The Penguin Drive-in in Charlotte, NC. They are famous for their fried pickles! Wahoo for pickles!

Here's a picture of fried pickles, and if you click here, it will take you to The Penguin Drive-in website. (I got the picture off flickr.com, so I don’t know if it’s a picture of The Penguin’s fried pickles or someone else’s. Probably someone else’s)

Sports and Pickles

Who would of known that pickles are related to sports? Well in fact it's true. Here are the few sports pickles are related to.

Pickle-in-the-middle- a three peson game, also known as monkey in the middle.
Well i have never heard of monkey-in-the-middle referred to as pickle-in-the-middle.

Pickleball- a game with similarities to tennis.
I wonder if they play this game with pickles instead of tennisballs........

Deck the Halls with Boughs of Pickles

Did you know??

In Germany, pickles are actually hung as decorations on Christmas trees. Yeah, they are the last decoration to be placed on the tree, and when the children first see the tree, it's like a game to see who can find the pickle first. The first one to find the pickle gets a special victory present from St. Nick himself.

Again, I didn't make it up. This one was from http://www.msichicago.org/scrapbook/scrapbook_exhibits/CATW2002/funfacts.html

Here's a picture of the pickle on the tree. (As you can see, it's not a real pickle.)
